Impacts of climate change on terrestrial ecosystem functioning
A new research report describes the results of a ten-year climate study in which a natural ecosystem was exposed to climatic conditions which are likely to be a reality in Denmark in 2075. The goal of the study was to examine nature's ability to adapt to the climate of the future. Three factors were covered: higher temperatures, increased CO2 in the atmosphere and droughts. The combination of factors, in particular, has been shown to have both positive and negative impacts on the ecosystem and on the climate in general. Read an overview of the report here.
The three cases in this newsletter focus on adaptation of buildings, a new headquarters of the healthcare company Novo Nordisk Denmark, the new Central Region Denmark hospital in Gødstrup, Jutland and finally a daycare institution in the suburb of Copenhagen.
