With our newsletter at klimatilpasning.dk we aim to share the information that's available on the Danish web portal.

Climate Atlas

DMI has developed a nation-wide Danish Climate Atlas based on in-house data, data from the IPCC and various international databases. As the Danish municipalities are responsible for most of climate adaptation, the Danish Climate Atlas has the municipalities as its primary focus. Further data will be added towards 2021 for other relevant climate indicators as wind, evaporation, growth season and very extreme storm surges.

Climate change and nature based solutions

In the last newsletter a portfolio of climate change and NBS-projects was mentioned. The projects were financed back in 2016 and 2017 by the Ministry For Environment and Food. A few of the projects are now completed as e.g. Ellebaekken outside Naestved at Sealand. New lakes store water from the watercource during winter and release the water during dry periods in summer and autumn. The establishment of the lakes at the same time means that in the events of large amounts of rain, water will be retained in the lakes.

New cases

Two new cases focus on a large joint climate adaptation project between six municipalities and four utility companies along a watercource in the suburban district west of Copenhagen and a case focusing on a new green urban park in downtown Kolding, a town in Jutland.
