Climate change as a threat to health and well-being in Europe

With climate change comes heatwaves, which creates better conditions for spreading of infectious diseases. This report from the European Environment Agency (EEA) sheds light on the increasing health threat climate change poses on european citizens, and the need to take adaptation measures in Europe. 

 

Economic losses and fatalities from weather- and climate-related events in Europe

A new analysis by the European Enviroment Agency (EEA) covers the economic losses and fatalities from weather and climate-related events over the past 40 years. In this time Europe has experienced an economic loss of around half a trillion euros and 85.000-145.000 fatalities, less than one-third of these losses were insured. 

 

The IPCC Sixth Assessment Report 

The report focuses on Assessment of the impacts of climate change, biodiversity, looking at ecosystems, and human communities at global and regional levels. It reviews vulnerablities, the capacities and limits of the natural world and adaptation possibilities of human societies. 

 

EEA Report - Many European schools and hospitals at risk from heat waves and floods

The report from the European environment agency describes the disproportional effect climate change has on vulnerable groups like the elderly, children, low-income groups and people with health problems and disabilities. The report addresses how these inequalities can be treated through equitable climate change adaptation.

 

EEA Report - Advancing towards climate resilience in Europe

This report from the European Environment Agency presents an overview of all EU member states and Turkeys reported information on national action on climate adaptation. The report compares the reported data from 2021 with previous years data and hereby creating insight into the development of Europes progress in climate adaptation. 

 

Naturvårdsverket Report - Nature Based Solutions

This report from the 12th of December 2022 defines and explains nature-based solutions by delivering guidance in implementation through a selection of real-world cases. Nature-based solutions are important when facing both climate change and loss of biodiversity, since these types of solutions can simultaneously help to address both issues.
