Perimeter drainage

A perimeter drainage system is laid along the foundation and outer walls of buildings and leads away excess water. The water led away could be excess surface water from precipitation or it could stem from an elevated groundwater level, which creates water pressure against the house. Perimeter drainage leads excess water away from the ground to a rainwater well, then on to the sewer and drainage system.
Drain pipes and inspection manholes must be established with the correct slope. The drain pipes drains the surrounding soil of water, while the inspection manholes make it possible to clean out the drainage system. The inspection manholes are typically placed at pipe bends and intersections etc., from where the water is led on to the sewer system. If there are differences in ground level on the property, or if the house has a basement, it may be necessary to pump the drained water up into the sewer system via a pump well.
