Pipe cracking

Pipe cracking is a technique used in connection with renovation work on old sewer pipes. Renovating sewers using the pipe cracking method avoids excavation work and breaking up roads and installations. Pipe cracking allows replacement of sewer pipes from only two excavations at either end of the pipe.  The old pipe is removed, while a new pipe is pulled through the subsoil. This makes it easier to ensure the right dimensions. Furthermore, the old pipes can be removed without having to dig up the entire street, causing unnecessary nuisance for shops, traffic, etc.
