Separate sewer system with pressure sewers

A separate sewer system with a closed pressurised pump system for sewage is suitable for urban areas without separate drainage pipes for sewage and rainwater.

By installing a new parallel pressurised pump system which manages the black water in a closed system, the sewage will remain unaffected by cloudbursts, and the capacity of the existing open sewer system to manage rainwater will be increased by 10-15%. Furthermore, the risk of contagion will be reduced along with the number of rats in the existing sewerage network, as faeces are kept in a closed system. Finally, the costs of establishing a separate sewer system with pressure sewers are less than the costs of conventional gravity sewers.
